This romantic suspense takes place in 1960s Appalachia and follows the story of Maribelle, a teacher who leaves her comfortable life in Nashville to teach deaf children in a rural mountain town.

As she teaches the children American Sign Language, she realizes that life in Sassafras Hollow is harder than expected. She doesn’t anticipate the townspeople’s skepticism of her methods, the harsh realties of mountain life, or the deadly fallout from an unrequited love.

Ron and I adopted Shadow on June 30, 2018. Ever since, she has become so much more than a dog to us. She is our baby, companion and best friend. I wouldn’t have written my Isle of Palms Suspense series without her, and now, she has inspired a special children’s book series about our travels together. I love this sweet girl so much.
